Theme Types in Zid

Zid supports two distinct types of themes for its merchants:

1. Public Theme

Public themes are intended for wide use and distribution across the Zid ecosystem.

Key Features:

  • Listed publicly on the Zid Theme Market

  • Available for preview and installation by all Zid merchants

  • Undergo Zid's review and approval process before publication

  • Appear with marketing assets like mockups, pricing, and descriptions

  • Require ongoing support from the developer to ensure quality and compatibility

Ideal for: Partners or developers who want to offer themes to the broader Zid merchant community.

2. Private Theme

Private themes are built for a specific merchant or use case.

Key Features:

  • Not listed on the Zid Theme Market

  • Only accessible to the store(s) explicitly assigned to it

  • No review process from Zid

  • No listing page or public marketing assets needed

  • Installed manually via development store or direct upload

Ideal for: Agencies or developers building custom storefronts for individual clients.

Development Note

  • Public themes should follow Zid's theme guidelines, including design specs, accessibility, responsiveness, and feature completeness. They must be submitted through the Partner Dashboard and go through the publishing workflow.

  • Private themes can be developed using Zid's documentation and tested via development stores. However, there is no partner dashboard flow for submission or management. Developers must rely on manual uploads and assignments for testing and deployment.
